True North: what to do first in SEO, and in what order
True North is a skill for Claude that answers "where do I start with SEO?" with a 30/60/90-day plan. It works out your site's stage, what holds you back most (time, money or skills) and your business model, then orders the work, with hours on every row.
One of the 14 skills in the pack
Ask it in your own words
- "Where do I start with SEO? My site is four months old and I have 5 hours a week."
- "I have 200 posts and no traffic."
- "Should I write more or get links?"
- "a guy offers me 200 backlinks for 150 euros, good deal or not"
What happens next
- It asks once. One message, only for what is missing. If you cannot answer, it goes on with assumptions and labels each one.
- It diagnoses. It finds the stage of the site (from pre-launch to established), the constraint that binds and the business model.
- It writes the plan. Your weekly hours become a budget it never fills entirely. Each row gets a week, hours, a done-when check and the skill that does the work.
What you get back
- A direct answer to your question, then a four-line diagnosis
- The 30/60/90-day table: week, task, hours, skill, done-when check
- A not-doing list, each item with its reason and the legitimate alternative
- A weekly routine, a metrics sheet and expectations given as ranges
Run on this very site
The diagnosis for this site, a domain registered on 11 October 2026 with no Search Console data yet.
Stage 2, young domain (provisional): no Search Console data, age breaks the tie
Binding constraint: indexation and authority
First priority: make existing pages indexable and linked; choose 3-5 winnable queries; 3-5 listingsThat is the order this site followed: audit and internal links first, then the queries, then the places to be listed.
What it will not do
- It promises no ranking and no traffic, even when your boss wants one number: you get dated checkpoints and a conditional range.
- It is not an audit: it runs a few public checks on a live site, and the audit itself is a row in the plan.
- Its hour tables fit one to three people and sites up to a few thousand URLs. Beyond that, it plans by workstream, without hours.
What it needs
Claude Code, Claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Cowork. No script, so no Python (the Claude apps still need code execution switched on for skills). Search Console figures are optional.

Where it hands over
- Site X-Ray: The plan usually opens with a technical check of the site, and this skill runs it.
- Click Radar: The first reading of your Search Console exports is a row in the plan, done there.
Questions about this skill
Do I need the other skills installed?
No. A row names a companion skill when it is installed. Otherwise it carries a short procedure to follow by hand, and the plan says which skills are missing.
What if I have no Search Console data?
You still get a plan. What you say ("nobody finds us") is taken as an assumption and labelled as one, and the first 30 days stay cheap and reversible.
