Street Cred: an off-site plan for a site nobody mentions yet
Street Cred is a skill for Claude that plans the off-site work of a young or small site, or a local business: where to be listed, whom to write to, which communities to join. It finds those places without paid tools, scores them and tracks the follow-ups. You submit and send.
One of the 14 skills in the pack
Ask it in your own words
- "How do I get backlinks for a brand-new site?"
- "Where should I list my app: directories, awesome lists, launch sites?"
- "I run a plumbing business. How do I get more reviews?"
- "some guy offers 200 links for 50 dollars, is it worth it"
What happens next
- It checks how your name is seen. It searches the brand, notes who else uses the name, and settles one spelling and one description for every listing.
- It finds the places. Free searches surface directories, roundups, communities and newsletters, and the sources that mention your competitors.
- It scores and orders them. Each target is rated on four criteria, and the first month is sized to the hours you really have.
- It prepares, then tracks. Submission kits, outreach drafts that say who you are, and a tracker that followups_due.py reads every week.
What you get back
- An entity card: name collisions, one spelling, a description kit
- tracker.csv: scored targets with statuses and dates, and a first 30-day plan
- A rules checklist per community, filled from its actual rules
- A measurement baseline and ten questions to ask AI assistants
Run on this very site
The places where Claude skills are listed, discussed or reviewed, each read for its own rules.
41 candidates examined, 15 kept, 26 left out.
Almost every skill directory and awesome list reads a public GitHub repository.
red flag: "A verified backlink is required for a free listing"
Reddit [...]: NOT READ, no-go to post.A paid, closed pack fits very few of those places as it stands. Nothing was submitted where the rules exclude it, and nothing was bought.
What it will not do
- It researches and drafts; you act. It never creates accounts, fills in forms, posts, sends mail or votes: platforms ban automation.
- It refuses to help buy links, write fake reviews, ask for votes or run second accounts. It quotes the platform's rule and gives the legitimate route.
- Where a venue forbids AI-written submissions, it writes no text for it: you get the rules and an outline of facts.
- It cannot know whether a listing will be approved, a link counted or an assistant will cite you.
What it needs
Claude Code or the Claude apps, with web search and the ability to read pages. Two scripts (Python 3.9 or later) read pages politely and print what is due; without them, you sort the tracker by date.

Where it hands over
- Name Drop: Run it first if the goal is AI answers: the sources it finds cited become your targets.
- Fair Fight: It writes the dated comparison page that gives editors a reason to mention you.
Questions about this skill
Does it need a paid backlink tool?
No. Discovery runs on free searches. Competitor link profiles are not fully available for free, and it says so.
How much of my time does it take?
The plan is sized to your weekly hours, two by default. Reviewing the tracker takes about 20 minutes a week.
