Gap Hunter: a brief built on what the top results miss
Gap Hunter is a skill for Claude that builds a content brief from live search results. It reads the top three to five editorial pages for your query, records what they all miss, checks your facts at their source, and gives a writer an outline that opens each section with its answer.
One of the 14 skills in the pack
Ask it in your own words
- "Write a content brief for this query."
- "What do the pages ranking for my keyword leave out?"
- "This post used to do well, then dropped. What should change?"
- "need an outline that beats page 1, fyi we sell one of the products in it"
What happens next
- It reads the top pages. One search at least. page_outline.py pulls headings, dates, versions and prices from three to five pages. A page it cannot read is listed as not read, never guessed.
- It maps the gap. A matrix of topics against pages shows who covers what, and what your page can add that none of them has.
- It checks the facts, then outlines. Every number, price, version and label is read at its primary source and dated before the outline is written.
What you get back
- A coverage matrix with an information-gain column
- An answer-first outline: a 40 to 60 word opening answer, then question headings
- A facts table: each fact with its source, its checked-on date and its status
- An FAQ, title and meta options, and internal links taken from your own URL list
Run on this very site
The pages that rank for what one skill does, read to find what they leave out.
Top results cover: directory listings (name, install command, a paragraph) and agency posts.
They miss: a real output, stated refusals, what the skill needs [...]
Risk: 28 near-template URLs on a two-day-old domain. Without a unique excerpt each, expect "Crawled - currently not indexed".Which is why this page, like the thirteen others, shows a real run and says what the skill will not do.
What it will not do
- It cannot give search volumes or rankings: both stay unknown without paid data or Search Console.
- "What the top results miss" holds for one sample: one engine, one region, one day.
- It will not reword a ranking page to pass a similarity check, hide an affiliate link, or write invented reviews.
- On a launch page it never invents a leak: what is unconfirmed is labelled as such.
What it needs
Claude Code or the Claude apps, with web search and a way to open pages. Its two scripts (Python 3.9 or later) read pages exactly and spot copied sentences. Internal links need your URL list.

Where it hands over
- Odds Maker: Run it first when you doubt the query: Gap Hunter reuses its verdict.
- Truth Serum: Before the finished text goes live, it checks each claim against its source.
Questions about this skill
Does it write the article too?
It delivers the brief first. If you ask for the article, it drafts from the brief, section by section.
Can it fix an article that lost ground?
Yes, in refresh mode: it re-checks each claim at its source and compares your page with today's top results. Without Search Console data it says what differs, not why the page dropped.
